7/28/2013- The Raton Osos recently finished their inaugural 2013 season in the Pecos League. The City of Raton ran with the opportunity to have a team.

The Pecos League was ready to move the Triggers out of Trinidad and as the Triggers were having issues with TSJC over field usage. Pecos League Commissioner Andrew Dunn originally decided to move the Triggers to Raton mainly in park because of Ratons Million Dollar Park and great city government. The Osos went through expansion woes in 2013 going 14-53.

Trinidad resolved their issues but after analyzing Raton it was decided that both Trinidad and Raton could have teams. There were many critics of this thinking the towns were too close together and too small. It turned out to be a great idea for everyone involved. The Triggers, Osos and the Pecos League were able to share resources and provide two great places to play for players. It really stabilized the Northern Division in terms of travel. The cities, fan bases and communities of Trinidad and Raton are completely separate and had very few fans goto games in the other State. Trinidad is in Colorado and Raton is in New Mexico and the two communities are very different both politically and culturally. Although a rivalry was supposed to be forged there is not much a rivalry when Trinidad won 15 of 16 games played between the two teams. At the end of the season Raton had a chance to knock Trinidad out of the playoffs and attempted to do this. The beginning of a rivalry could be seen.

The Osos were a very well ran team despite being in the leagues smallest market. Jared Chatterley did an excellent job coordinating the Osos. The Osos were very popular in the community. Gabriele Ballpark is the best field in the Northern Division of the Pecos League. The sunken diamond was beautiful and the players love the infield.

The Osos will need coaching help in the 2014 season, they plan to have a three man coaching staff not being the only team in the Pecos League with one coach. Ray Hancock managed in 2013 by himself which is tough task for an expansion team.

On 7/29/2013 community leaders will hold a meeting to discuss future plans for the Osos. A beer garden, fencing and a batters eye are major facilities needs. The City may also paint the outfield walls.

"The Osos were great for City of Raton. The best thing that has been here in the summer in many years." Said Sally Chavez owner of the Village Inn. "Teams came here and stayed, ate and spent money in community. This has been great for local businesses."

Randy Rubin from Sports Arena said "The Osos were amazing for Raton and I hope we can keep them. I didnt believe they would really come here and now that they are here I hope they stay. Ray Hancock was great in the community."
