Josh Downing kept the Raton Osos (13-47) off the board during his six innings of work and the Santa Fe Fuego (29-31) beat the Raton Osos, 5-4.
Downing struck out five and allowed three walks and four hits.
A walk-off double by Charlie Calamia gave the Santa Fe Fuego the win.
Calamia racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Santa Fe Fuego. He doubled in the ninth inning.
Jimmy Maxwell got on base four times in the game for the Santa Fe Fuego. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He homered in the seventh inning.
Charlie McCready improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Santa Fe Fuego. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered one hit.
Phil Richmond (1-1) was the games losing pitcher. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked two, struck out one, and allowed two runs. Paul Risso pitched a scoreless 6th inning for Raton.
He become the oldest pitcher in the history of the Pecos League and lived his dream of pitching in Professional Baseball. Risso gave up a single, got two ground balls back at him and got a popup to right field to get out of the inning. �Risso really gave them a different look.� says Osos Manager Ray Hancock.
The Osos as they have done all season blew the game in the 9th inning leading 4-2. Richard Suniga and Phil Richmond could not get the Fuego hitters out. The Fuego scored three runs winning 5-4.
This was a huge win for the Fuego who have had problems with the Osos all year. The Fuego now trail the Triggers by 3-1/2 games with an easier schedule.
